Born in 1999 in Lyon, Arty Farty is a totally European and independent non-profit organisation. We aim to develop and promote independent culture in music and the visual arts, as well as all related disciplinary fields and modern aesthetics including graphic design, food and digital creation… Engaged and activist, Arty Farty works in particular, on its territory and at European level, for the renewal of generations and public strategies in the field of culture. In this capacity, she advocates for the notion of cultural entrepreneurship, the preservation and the redeployment of the public means of culture, a reinforced consideration of the cultural vision in the construction of the cities of tomorrow.
In 1997 a group of artists and intellectuals take the initiative to found an independent center of contemporary art in Cluj. In 1998, the desire became reality in the former Poalei Tzedek synagogue, on the shore of the Somes River, becoming Tranzit House. Tranzit House, managed by Tranzit Foundation, has been organizing and hosting artistic and cultural events for the last 22 years, being one of the oldest independent cultural institutions in Romania.
