In 2017 Pride Romania, Go Free- the Association for the Support of Civil Society and ACTEDO organised the first march for the rights of the LGBTQ community in Cluj-Napoca, through which we wanted to claim the public space with the use of dialog and solidarity together with the LGBTQ youth activists in Cluj. It took a submission of 22 applications to the Town Hall of Cluj-Napoca and the participation to a series of negotiations with the representatives of the local authorities so that the march would finally be approved, however on a marginal route, far from the town center. Nonetheless, over 800 people participated in the march, mobilized through 36 videos that were recorded during the #spunedrept campaign. The solidarity messages were disseminated and recorded by activists, members of the academic community, politicians, journalists, representatives of NGOs, hitting over 252.736 views on the Facebook page of the #spunedrept campaign, but also hundreds of homophobic comments which were moderated day and night. The #spunedrept initiative won the 1st prize at the Participation of Youth in the Community category at the Youth Gala in Romania in 2017, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The campaign was also one of the five finalists at the National Volunteers’ Gala, at the Volunteering Project of the year in the civic activism and human rights category.
